4 of 5 Stars! 08/14/2010 - William Baumann
Well, let me just start off by saying that the motor did a lot better than I expected. I honestly thought that it was going to look like a generic piece of junk on my beach cruiser but it looks surprisingly legit. for style points i would give it a 4 of 5. Now as far as installation is concerned, the actual install wasnt very difficult at all even though i didnt have the correct socket set (you will need metric) I was able to use a crescent wrench and a pair of pliers to do most of the tightening. An unforseen problem that I did have was with getting the chain housing cover off without stripping out the heads of the cheap-o screws that they used to keep it on. I actually had to go out and get a GRABIT drillbit and drill one of the heads of the screws because i stripped it out with my phillips screwdriver and couldnt get it out otherwise. So that was a little setback. The next setback that I had was with trying to do the "KREEM" gas tank liner. First off that stuff is EXPENSIVE. It comes with a whole three step process that cost me an extra $50 or so, and if it isnt done right you can really mess your gas tank up. I wish they had tanks that already had this liner applied. I would gladly have paid 20 bucks extra for the kit if they offered that. The only other thing that i had a problem as far as installation goes is the chain tensioner. I had run the bike around town for a week or so and I FORGOT TO RETIGHTEN the little wheel. So as you can imagine, the thing fell off on my way home and It took me about two days worth of searching to find it on the side of the road. Needless to say I went out and got a much better bolt, some washers and lock washers and a TEFLON nut. Those things are a lot harder to come off due to vibration than the nut/bolt combo that comes with the kit. One other thing happened that was all user error. I ran over a parking curb. the front wheel made it over the curb relatively easily with a little help from me yanking on the throttle instead of the brake on accident. XO As I said the front wheel made it over but the muffler didnt. It surprisingly didnt snap the motor mount rods for the muffler but it did bend the heck out of the gasket sealing (i think its called a flange) part of the muffler itself so it would keep blowing the gasket out and wouldnt make a good seal anymore. I tried to bend it back in place and i did a relatively decent job of it but i couldnt get a good seal on the muffler without using big gobs of silicon gasket maker (the blue kind). Its holding for now but I will need to get another muffler soon. OOOOH yeah i forgot about the chain itself......I also needed to have some links cut out of the thing to get it to set right with the bike but I didnt try to use some goofy chain breaker to do it like the last guys post, I just took it down to my local YAMAHA dealer and asked the service guy to cut it to length. it took him a whole 6 seconds with a power grinder, and he didnt charge me anything to do it. of course it didnt hurt to tell him that it was for my motorized bicycle. So for a rating for installation I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 because of all the extra steps involved and the added expense of the KREEM Now for the fun part and probably the part everyone wants to read: Performance Now that I have the thing up and running properly there are 3-4 issues that i have. issue #1: the thing can be a pain in the butt to turn over when you are firing it up for the first time of the day. Unless you have legs of steel or something, sometimes it takes additional pedaling even when you've let the clutch go to get gas to start feeding into the thing to get it turning over and under it's own power. Issue #2: YOU WILL WANT TO GET METAL PEDALS. the cheap plastic pedals that tend to come with most bikes will fall apart. Mine personally fell apart after the second day of use because i powered through them trying to get the bike started. For 159.99 plush shipping they really should have included them in the kit that they send you with the motor but for some reason ($$$) they dont. Issue #3: my motor sucks gas faster than a midget standing in a room full of people eating beans. now i dont know if it has something to do with the choke on the carbeurator or if the fuel shutoff valve doesnt close all the way or the gas lines just slide over all the fittings and there really isnt any way to secure them or what but I dont think that this thing gets 100 miles to the gallon. a more realistic number is around 35-40. issue #4: my carbeurator has a fuel leak somewhere in it and it has a slow drip. I still havent been able to pinpoint exactly where the leak is but I know there is one. As I said in complaint #3 it could be because of the problem with the fuel lines not being able to be clamped down onto any of the fittings for a good tight seal Now Im sure that some of these things sound bad, but dont let my review throw you off of this product. It really is fun to ride along and have people wonder what the heck it is you are riding. I have gotten many compliments from random people who want to know about it and how they can get one for themself and Im not ashamed to tell them to go to BikeBerry.com because all in all it is a good product once you get it broken in and working correctly. Its a lot of fun to ride the thing around town and the most important thing is I dont have to pedal to get where I am going. So for performance i give it a solid 4 out of 5.

4 of 5 Stars! 08/04/2010 - Ryan Boyd
My motor looks good on my bike and so far that's all I can say about it. Mostly my own fault for ordering motor form BikeBerry and the shift kit from thatsDax.com. Most of the motors and accompanying hard ware are generic and will work together...but when ordering from multiple vendors, it's best to be good at figuring out mechanical jig saw puzzles. Everything fits and mounted easily. I just have one little problem: The motor from this site uses a chain tensioner and the shift kit I have doesn't. Chain tension is adjusted by adding/removing links. The 415 chain (that connects the motor drive sprocket to the jack shaft input and jack shaft output to outer chain ring) is more difficult to open links than a bicycle chain. Trying to adjust the chain length, I broke my chain breaker tool, bought another and broke that one too. Turns out a 415 chain is a Motorcycle chain and the one Harley shop I found that carries them wants $70.00 and up for the tool and they don't keep it in stock. ("It's a Professional Mechanics Tool"). Been hunting on line for the tool for an hour now and I have yet to find anything except more bike chain breakers, nothing big enough for my task at hand. It may seem as though i'm giving a negative rating on this product, i'm not. I'm just saying buyer be ware. This is one of the pit falls you may run in to while trying to put a motor on your bike. Best advice I can give is buy all you kits, parts and materials from one vendor. It will make it easier to install everything and get it up and running.

this motor is perfect. when it says that it actually comes with everything it isnt lying. the motor puts out a lot of torque and power for its size.

Disclosure of accurate engine size: While we have chosen to use the long standing factory branding engine size of "80cc", the true displacement of the bicycle engine is 66cc. Down through the years China bicycle engine manufactures have advertised their biggest engine as 80cc, therefore we have listed them in the same way on our website. However, the bore and stroke of an 80cc being 47x38mm equals 66cc. Therefore the true displacement of the 80cc bike motor is 66cc. In the west, the volume of a cylinder is calculated by using the formula Volume = Pi x Radius Squared x Stroke. However,in the east the displacement of an engine includes the area of the cylinder head's combustion chamber as well as the volume of the cylinder. As such, there lies a discrepancy between measuring standards by the manufactures in China with those in the United States. As such, all "80cc" engine kits on the market today are actually 66cc in displacement size if measuring by US standards.
