I've put another one together, a 48cc Grubee SkyHawk, on a Schwinn Wind Wood Beach Cruiser. It's got lights front and rear, a digital speedometer, front caliper brakes and rear coaster brakes, and a rear view mirror, it's a one speed with wide tires and fenders (for the rain). It can be street legal, check with law enforcement. I hope no one gets arrested for having too much fun. And it's good exercise too, there is some peddling to do to get started. But I always get a thumbs up, and a smile from the kids and adults in my neighborhood, as I ride by.

These kits are cool. Very fun. I also wrote a review for the silver kit because i purchased one kit in silver and one in black. They are easy to assemble. The instuctions do suck. If you need help on something search youtube there are a few videos of other people assembling these kits step by step they are very helpful. Both bikes i put them on had different type frames so be open minded when putting it together modifications will prolly be needed i had to on both bikes....Nothing major just easy things. The engines i have run great and power is better than i thought it would be. Ive cruised one bike around 200 miles so far going great....the other only about 30 miles. Both sturdy and smooth running motorized bikes. The black motor is glossy paint looks better then picture. Great Gas milage. I can't think of anything worth complaining about for these kits. Price for kits are worth it for sure. Oh with the kill switch yellow wire to engine white wire and green wire to blue wire....I couldn't find a good ground on my bikes so thats how i did it. ON the exhust pipe had to heat it up and bend it more under the bike due to pedals hitting exhust pipe a little. I want to put another kit on a bike fun project fun to ride. Thanks again Bike berry.BEW

Over all I was satisfied with my purchase of three 48cc SkyHawk 2 stroke gas bike engine kits. To date I have only gotten one bike complete, a Schwinn Wind Wood Beach Cruiser ( 1-speed).
Right out of the box, the clutch shaft was frozen in the engaged position, but I continued with the install, and once complete with a little work I freed the clutch and it started right off.
After a little break period I learned to manage the choke to take advantage of it's operation. But I feel I need to adjust the factory sealed carburetor settings to obtain a better idle and top end performance.
The power of the 48cc is not the same as the 66cc Grubee, but then the vibration is a lot less too!! Still 20-25mph is a comfortable speed for a self powered Beach Cruiser.

I have had this kit installed since November 2009. I have ridden it about 450miles, and I am very pleased. I like the upgraded carburetor, and I have added accessories from Sick Bike Parts such as carb o-rings, fuel petcock, air filter, and muffler gasket.
I like how parts are easy to come by for this kit, and it runs strong all day. I now drive it to work 5 days a week x 4 miles in good weather and ride it about 50 miles for pleasure on weekends.

For the price (I gave $150 shipped) I think its an exciting and useful product, that came with pretty good instructions, all the promised parts (not a bolt was missing, plus some extras were included) and no shipping damage.
When installed as instructed the engine fired up very soon on the first attempt. I have used it for about 100 mi total so far and I'm pleased.
The only part I couldn't use was the muffler. It seems to be a junky one anyway, but I couldn't bend it to fit my bike (beach cruiser) and had to buy a different muffler elsewhere.
If you use a beach cruiser, you will need a u-bolt type mount or bolt-through mount, and this may affect the location of the pipe (may touch frame). Click to view All Reviews |
