The 38cc 4-Stroke Friction Drive CDI Electronic Ignition Coil will get the electronic system within your motor back on track. Like the 49cc 4-stroke CDI, this CDI also mounts directly to the head of your friction drive engine.
If your carburetor is getting air and fuel, and your clutch is working, yet you can't get your motor to kick over, your problem is likely hiding the CDI. Getting a spark is crucial in starting your engine, and if you can't catch one, you'll need a new CDI.
- Begin by removing the carburetor from the engine
- Remove the case covers around the engine, exposing the bare block
- On the head of the engine you'll see a bolt holding in two wires: this is your CDI. Remove it from the engine
- Replace your bad CDI with the fresh on, install the case covers and carburetor, and you're ready to ride
Note: This CDI is for 38cc 4-stroke friction drive engines only. These will not work on anything smaller or larger than 38cc, or on 2-stroke engines.
