Description

If you’re after an ideal combination of speed, power, and competitive pricing, then the ModWheel 26 Inch 36v 500w Enthusiast GEARED Electric Bike Kit with Optional Battery is the way to go. This kit includes a 26” front or 7-Speed rear wheel with a geared 36volt, 500-watt electric motor that offers superior torque compared to direct drive motors. It also sports an LCD speedometer, an electronic controller, and a useful carry bag for storing the controller in. The ModWheel Enthusiast Electric Bike Kit combines modern e-bike technology with affordable pricing to ensure that a greater number of riders can now access electric power.

Unlike many other brands that sell e-bike conversion kits, the ModWheel Enthusiast Geared Front Wheel Electric Bike Kit incorporates a geared motor with the option of magnetic Pedelec. This enables riders to have the best of both worlds: they can pedal (maintaining a fun form of exercise), but they also have supplemental electric power on offer to help out when necessary. The Pedelec is managed using the lightweight controller, which also includes a thumb throttle for smooth and instantaneous acceleration.

By choosing a geared motor, riders have the advantage of improved torque. The energy in these motors is routed through a series of planetary rotation gears that help propel the wheel. Unlike direct-drive motors, a geared assembly is great for hills and inclines, as well as cruising downhills without drag like other e-bike wheels. You can also pedal without resistance from the motor, which makes it much easier to ride when you don't feel like giving your bike throttle.

The 26” diameter wheel supplied as part of the ModWheel Enthusiast Electric Bike Kit comes with an innertube and tire already attached, plus a dish that will assist in reducing wind resistance.  When connected to a 36-volt battery, the ModWheel Enthusiast GEARED Electric Bike Kit can enable riders to travel up to 17 miles on an average battery charge, with a top speed of 21 miles per hour (subject to rider weight and prevailing ride conditions).

  • Comes with everything you’ll need to transform your current bike into an electric bike
  • Includes a 26” diameter electric front or 7-Speed rear wheel, fitted with a brushless hub motor
  • 500 watt electric motor is powered by a 36 volt, 11 amp hour lithium-ion battery

just wonderful

Installation on my Treck 18 speed required the bikeshop or specialized tools to install the crank censor, otherwise Installation was easy for my moderate skills.

After multiple rides of 20 mile mountain dirt roads, 20 mile city streets and 50 mile paved backroad touring the bottom line is that this is magic. The $800 kit enables me to be at 63 years old, 50% better than I ever was in my prime.

Just order the kit is my best advice.

[ technical critiques: coming from an industrial safety background; there is an absence of safety interlocks on this early immature technology. You can bump the throttle switch and watch the bike take off and crash without you.

My throttle control sticks a bit so the throttle and brake cut-out fight it out at stop lights, a potentially fatal situation for children and unexperienced riders.

My physical amps run out on hills when only peddling, requiring the throttle assist for over 50% of the units power.
Doubling the sensor magnets may solve this power vacuum.

Peddeling backwards fools the magnetic monitor into delivering full power yea-ha!
said the snail riding the turtle.
However this too presents a potential safety risk to those unprepared for the (burst 🤣) of power.

again, these are technical critiques intended to help mature the technology and help people stay safe. They are not intended to diminish this wonderful product. ]

After I sent back the wheel because it had no gears, I got the new one. It went on perfectly and works well, I’m a little concerned because my battery meter isn’t working and I haven’t contacted them yet to figure it out.

I am very satisfied with the E bike wheel but bike bury.com has the worst customer service ever. They will not answer the phone due The situation which I don’t see how it has anything to do with answering the phone, and I cannot get the info on how to program the wheel they told me to contact them by email but they do not answer emails either! Very disappointed with Mike Barry but the product is good.

Satisfied Customer! Now I have extra power when I bike around off trail. On my first ride with this kit, we road about 12 miles and I did not break a sweat peddling.

very pleased All the parts arrived earlier than expected. These kit are compatible with my mountain bike, which I like because it's easier to use and bought it cheaper compared to other bike kits in the market. This is worth the price.

Totally Rad, Dude I put this kit on my Electra Cruiser 1.It didn't fit my Trek Pure S.The axle was too big.But that's ok.I've been using it for a week, now, and I just went on a 13 mile trip without depleting the battery.Everything advertised is true.21 mph, 17 mile range under best conditions, and 5 hour charge time. This kit may be the best you can get, I don't know, but it does what they say it will do.I don't notice any loss of power when the battery gets low.My only complaint is the speedometer. The instructions are gibberish and it's stuck on kilometers, but if you're fairly good at math you can figure you're mph.5 k is 3 m.But, the battery indicator is probably most important and it works.I'm satisfied and I am recommending this to anyone who is interested

Great, but a lot of work I bought the kit already installed into a folding 20"" bike from a neighbor. It was used and it looks like he did a fair share of work and riding. He used it to commute for about a year. Excited to be mobile again with all my medical limitations, i splurged on a new seat, a front basket, a couple prs of gloves, a powerful led light, rear lights, a little mounted stereo, a bell and mirrors. I replaced the dinky kickstand with a moped one. I put reflective tape on and touched up the paint. I created a seat and foot rests for my kid after several expensive trials and errors. In short, i spent a lot of time learning, buying, searching, adjusting and working or repairing the bike. And it was worth it- it is fun as hell to ride with its power, especially uphill, all 240 of me and my 35# son, no problem. We even took it on the hilly off road trails and it didn't flinch. However there were a fair amount of setbacks. The brakes are horrific- and the bike repair man cannot figure out how to improve them. The horn does not work. The read out is broken and mounted backwards. The connectors are CONSTANTLY coming apart, like every day. Today, the throttle line male 5 prong connector BROKE. In the pitch black, 2 miles away down steep hills, while with my half asleep kid and a full picnic to carry up. Now im trying to find the parts to fix it... Again- and so far it looks like a complete nightmare.

Good performance/second review I have been riding with the 48 volt 10 amp hour Lithium Ion Magic Pie III for several weeks now,I am having no problems.I am an Electrical Engineer and have a DC amp probe. With a full battery, at maximum power, the motor draws 35 amps peak with a longer draw at 30 amps. The drive, at these amps, was programmed to the factory default settings.48 volts times 30 amps yields 1440 watts of input power.Estimating power output pulling up a grade at 550 ft-lbs/hp, the motor puts out about 1HP.Its enough power but I would not like anything less. The power is not an overkill but it runs nicely. I mostly ride slow and peddle a bit.The electric will craw when needed.I craw through a park and on the side walk.A gas engine will not run slow.At times going up a grade, crossing a local bridge, and across town through some red lights I must floor it to keep up with the traffic. It will do about 20 miles per hour under this condition. On my Treck in high gear and high range my feet are going around about as fast as possible at his speed.A head wind slows it down a bit.I must keep up with traffic, at pinch points, for about a mile along my 16 mile trip.I don't like to go fast, however, I have no where to duck out at these places.I never go on a high speed main road. With the battery mounted over the rear wheel the bike has a high center of gravity and all of the weight is over the rear tire.It can become unstable at speeds of around 20 MPH.One time it did begin to oscillate back and forth at high speed.I think the battery looks cool over the rear wheel and it looks bad mounted under the seat.I now understand why they like to mount it in a lower and a more centered place.Under these conditions of mixed usage it went about 16 miles before the battery began to cut out on a grade. The monitor said it was still 1/2 full.It still had pep and I could go farther if I purchased the USB cable and lowered the battery drop out settings.I don't know if this would hurt the Lithium Ion battery. It would damage a lead acid battery. At 30 amps of peek draw I do not want to increase the amps as this would overload the battery.I have not decided if I want to purchase the USB cable yet.Frank Z

very good with one problem I love the kit.It has good power and a long range. For $800 the Li-ion kit is half the price of others. It takes me, a 60 year old 260 lbs man, up a 5% slope for one mile with a little peddling. It regenerates on the way down the hill and recovers some of theenergy.Regeneration is great for hills but does not do much on the level.I ride with a friend who has a 2 cycle 49cc gasoline energy. His bike provides torque at one speed, fast. The electric provides torque over a wide range a speed from slow to fast.I can slow down to crawl on a side walk.It has a horn button and a light button.I got a 48 volt horn and a LED light from Amazon.I paralleled one of the LED's in the light to provide 3 volts to a rear flasher.I had to add, in parallel, a small 25uf capacitor to hold the rear flasher ln the flashing mode when the light was switched off. I had one problem. The freewheel would not screw onto the motor assembly. It appears the the cutting tool used to cut the treads on the motor had worn.I used an old free wheel nut and wrenched it onas a cutting tool.It worked and the problem was solved.I was greatly annoyed by this. The kit came with no directions and I was not sure what to do with the plastic spoke guard.I honed on the hole in it and placed it between the freewheel and the motor. This was a good move and it keeps the chain from slipping over the low gear on the freewheel.I purchased expensive $50 light weight tires, a mistake.I should have added cheep heavy duty tires.By the end of summer I will find out how it goes with a 210 lb man, me.

good with one problen The 48volt has enough power for a 250 pound man,, me.The range of the lythium ion battery was better than expected. The regenerate breaking is great for recovering energy from 1000 foot climbs. It does not recover much on the flat. The free wheel would not thread on the shaft. The factory bit the honed the shaft appeared to be worn.I took apart another free wheel and used it as a threading tool.I had to drive it on and off with a pipe wrench.I risked ruining the motor but I got the threads cut. There were no directions.I did not know what to do with the spoke guard.I cut a hole and placed it between the free wheel and the motor. That was a good move.Once past these problems, it ran great. It has has a little leas power than the 50 CC gas engine. The electric, unlike the gas, delivers power over a wide range of speeds. The electric will climb a 5 percent grade with a little peddling and will not stall out.

700w hub motor, nice,,, i got it from amazon for the same price it has a lot of power and left rubber on my kitchen floor,,good well made product, you may have to tape up the wires as they may be not warterproof where they go to the controller I would recomend it ,,I got 3 12v 12ah batterys that are cheeper but heavyer than lipo batterys,I have a cruser bike that I yoused and I waigh 220 lbs,,pleantey of power for me..
